Our Pastor -- Rev. Gloria Bolden
Reverend Gloria Bolden was born in Charlotte, NC. She is married to Eugene Bolden and has three daughters, Jacquelyn, Victoria and Dawn. She also has 8 grandchildren.
Reverend Bolden graduated from York Road High School and is the product of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. She earned a B.S. degree from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte where she became the first black female to earn a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering. She worked in this field at Catalytic INC. and Philip Morris USA for over 25 years.
Reverend Bolden received her Masters of Divinity from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA. While there, she was fortunate to have participated in the Alternative Context Program where she studied the cultural impact of the church while visiting various sites in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Guatemala. She also studied in the Middle East Travel Seminar which was sponsored by the Pittuloch Foundation. This seminar spent four weeks in Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Israel and Greece. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary..
Reverend Bolden was ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament on May 31, 1998. She was the first African American female to be ordained in The Presbytery of Charlotte since its inception in 1983.
She has served the Presbyterian Church at the local, presbytery, synod and national levels. She also served on the Board of Directors of Mecklenburg Ministries.
Presently, Reverend Bolden serves as the stated supply pastor of St. Paul Presbyterian Church and as the Director of Shaw University – Kannapolis CAPE. Reverend Bolden served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged. She also served in the Navy Reserve.
Rev. Bolden recognizes that God has blessed her to enjoy some unique and valuable experiences, but the greatest of all of her experiences has been the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Reverend Gloria Bolden is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She has served the sorority at the local, regional and national levels. Currently, she is the South Atlantic Regional Chaplain.
